The Rhein-Neckar-Cup was created in Mannheim as early as 2003.
which is one of the most successful regional tournaments in Germany.
Since 2012, the two passionate backgammon players Volker Sonnabend and Rainer Witt have been organizing
the International German Backgammon Championships, which have now become one of the largest backgammon events in Europe, with more than 200 national and international participants.
A year later, the Lions Cup was added, which traditionally takes place in Bad Dürkheim. We are supported on the Lions tour by the casino and the Kurpark Hotel in Bad Dürkheim.

Tournament success at the 14th Lions Cup in Bad Dürkheim:
Josefin Bichler and Ralf Sonnleitner emerge victorious
The championship at the Casino and Kurpark Hotel in Bad Dürkheim was a resounding success with 121 participants. In perfect weather, the players made ample use of the hotel terrace for breaks and analysis. Josefin Bichler shone with her tournament victory in the top division, while Ralf Sonnleitner secured the title in the intermediate division. The thoroughly successful event was highly praised by our participants.
18th International German Backgammon Championship
At the 18th International German Backgammon Championship in Seeheim near Frankfurt, 215 participants competed for the titles over the course of May 1st. In a first-class tournament atmosphere, Toni Grab became German Champion, while Serkan Sertkaya secured victory in the Intermediate class. Participants praised the smooth organization, the exceptional location, and especially the large terrace. The Lufthansa Congress Hotel Seeheim will again host the event in 2027.
Rhein-Neckar-Cup in Mannheim
Since 2003, the RHEIN-NECKAR-CUP (RNC) in Mannheim has been one of the most successful regional tournaments in Germany, founded by German Champion (2010) Rainer Witt.
